Northgate Bakery was established in 1966 as one of the original tenants of the Northgate Mall. Waverly Stechyshyn purchased the business in 1974. In the early 1980s, it expanded into wholesale and in 1995 moved to 9th Avenue North. In 2006 the bakery moved again to this location. There are also two retail locations, on Quance Street and Rochdale Boulevard.
