World Center Hotel

Originally a 12-story office building completed in 1931, 130 Cedar Street was heavily damaged in the 9/11 attacks. It has since been rebuilt (and now with 19 total floors) as the World Center Hotel, opening in 2010. Operated by Club Quarters Hotels, it was the first hotel to promote the room view overlooking ground zero and construction of the new World Trade Center complex.

Designed by Koenen Associates and Renwick, Aspinwall & Guard, the new facade has a 2-story base of grey granite and a black marble water table, with white pre-cast panels above. The southeast and northeast corners are chamfered, with three narrow bays of single windows around the corners. The rest of the facades are divided into 5-pane window bays, except for the westernmost on the north and south elevations, which have four panes. The two corners each rise to nine floors, then step up one floor at each bay along the facades to the 12th floor. The seven new floors are set back from each facade, with horizontal ribbons of windows on each floor. There are also narrower chamfered corners. In addition to the lobby, the ground floor is occupied by Morton's Steakhouse.
