The hill of Hisartepe just west of Ergili is the ruined site of Mysian Daskyleion south of Kyzikos in northwestern Asia Minor. The site's occupation goes back to the Bronze Age. It was a Phrygian and Lydian possession, and later served as the Persian administrative capital of Hellespontine Phrygia. In the Byzantine period it was the seat of a bishop. The site has been explored by archaeologists since 1952
