Balatlar Church was built in 660AD by Byzantium as a rectangular basilica. The west and east walls have been ruined but North and South walls are in a better condition. In the construction of the walls, four lines of stone and four lines of brick were used. It is one of the best examples of the period in the handwork of stone and brick. The frescoes on the lasting walls that depict Jesus, Mary and the Apostles are getting damaged as a result of being in open-air. The church, which covers an area of 3062 m², was initially thought to be a Roman-era bath. In 2000, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has opened it to public after the church has been condemned and restored.
