The cemetery was rediscovered twenty years ago by a neighbor looking for a runaway dog. The property had become so overgrown as to be invisible. The neighbor became the unofficial caretaker for the cemetery and remained so until plans were developed to improve a nearby highway. The neighbor lost his home to the highway while the cemetery was spared. Now it is unclear if anyone will take responsibility for cemetery maintenance.
The property was originally known as Hourrighara (Harugari) Cemetery but later was taken over by Arminia Lodge, a fraternal organization of German immigrants, now defunct.
