Islands Brygge (Copenhagen Municipality)

Denmark / Kobenhavn / Copenhagen / Copenhagen Municipality

Islands Brygge, the new waterfront area. It's divided into two distinctive parts, the Old Bryggen (from Langebro and down to Halfdansgade, built about 1890-1910) and the New Bryggen (where Bryggebroen connects it with Vesterbro, building still in progress) . The Old Bryggen has Copenhagen's 2nd and 3rd most expensive apartments , 16 and 14 million danish kroner for 270 and 240 squaremeters respectively , located in Thorshavnsgade. The New Bryggen is not far behind, having many apartments in the Gemini silo (www.arcspace.com/architects/mvrdv/gemini/gemini.html) for well over 10 million danish kroner.
During the summer the area transforms into the most vibrant and flashy part of Copenhagen, where the young people show off their tans and hot cars, and the trendy celebs and VIP's wine and dine at the local caffeés.
