This artificially created spit of land subject to Missouri River flooding and removal is the object of desire for the advocates of federal earmarks for pork barrel projects. They want to spend millions tunneling under the railroad tracks to give access without having to cross the tracks. It is a prime example of spending "just because if we don't, they will!" trait of those who favor big government
