Sivan Kovil Temple Tank - Over the years this was being used as a garbage dump & public open urinal by the local vegetable hawkers.

With Nanganallur turning into a ghetto of flats/apartments for middle class tambrahms- the place which once used to boast of water @ 1 ft. below the ground level prior to the introducing of flat complexes in the area started buying water in tanker loads from Kovilampakkam to meet day to day general needs.

Thanks to single minded efforts of Thiru.R.S.Bharathi B.A.B.L - Alandur Municipal Chairman, a compound wall was built around temple tank to ensure stoppage of misuse of the area & converting the temple tank for rain water harvesting.

  • hi i am living in 44th street.i think the lake is now in the worst condition.its totally green and many animals like cows,dogs go there and nasty the pond.the temple should take some steps to control this.
  • I think we all need to petition the authorities to take necessary actions to remove the garbage from the lake. Also chemial treatment for the removal of algae the deepening of the lake would improve the water table of the surrounding areas and would also absorb run-off water during the monsoon season. This would be the only water body/lake for the entire area of Nanganallur and its a pity that we are letting that be polluted in this way....
  • Now the temple have been cleaned. And it is neat!
