This private Catholic high school (college preparatory school, women only) originally opened in 1906 under Mother Pauline Gannon, at 3901 Fannin, and accredited by the University of Texas and the State Board of Education in 1917. Originally, it was a boarding school for twelve years, but by the mid-1950s it had turned into a day-only high school. This campus opened in September 1963, the date of opening at the present location in Sharpstown. Today St. Agnes Academy has approximately 800 girls enrolled.
