Rafo Onesti is one of the major oil refineries in Romania. The main products are gasolines made oil, diesel, propane, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oils, petroleum coke, propylene and sulfur oil.
The refinery has a capacity of 3.5 million tons per year.
In 2007 the retail network of about 290 stations included Rafo, of which 33 owned and approximately 250 affiliated private stations.

Historic
It was privatized in 2001 by acquiring a majority stake (59.9%) by the consortium of Imperial Oil (owned by Cornelius Iacubov) and Canyon Servicos (Portugal) for the sum of $ 7,480,000. The company Canyon Servicos is divided between companies and Meadowside Merrydown Management, based in Nevis (tax haven) and are led by Jorge Rivera and Carlos Apodaca, two lawyers representing the interests PSD leader Viorel Hrebenciuc known.
The British company Balkan Petroleum took over the majority stake in this consortium in 2003. The Company Calder-A (part of the group Petrochemical Holding) bought Balkan Petroleum in November 2006, becoming the majority shareholder.
Rafo Onesti came into judicial reorganization in April 2004, being the largest debtor to the budget [7]. At that time, according to the Romanian Centre for Investigative Journalism, Bivolaru would be "shadow master" of Rafo Onesti.
In late 2004, Nastase government approved debt cancellation, converting them into shares.
In July 2005, the company Calder A acquired the majority of shares in Rafo [9]. Calder was standing behind PMG-Privatstiftung fund led by Russian businessman Yakov Goldovsky.
In 2007, AVAS shares lifted pledge imposed on refinery investments undertaken in the privatization contract being performed [7]. By November 2007 Rafo Onesti has paid all its debts to the general consolidated budget in the amount of RON 898 million (about 250 million). [10] Also in November 2007, shareholders approved the increase of Rafo Onesti capital of 2.01 billion lei (570 million euros).
In May 2007, Rafo Onesti refinery Dărmăneşti took over as workstation.
The refinery was purchased in 2009, the Petrochemical Holding - owned by former Russian oligarch Yakov Goldovskiy petrochemical giant Sibur he held until the coming to power of Vladimir Putin [12]. Goldovskyi later was arrested for seven months after he was released, he left Russia and founded in Austria Petrochemical Holding, a company which is among the first in Europe to produce PET.
On February 3, 2015, Austrian Petrochemical Holding, the majority shareholder in Rafo, announced it will close and sell scrap refinery in Onesti.
Due to the financial situation of Rafo, I instruct the Director General Rafo SA starts the sale (sale) of assets and equipment related to the company, according to a statement sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
