  • I agree. Now the goverment/ corporation shall considering developing this b efore any concrete jungle comes up here. Everything is going out of our control.
  • and we r architecture students from TKM Clg of Engg kollam doinn a group dvlpment pjct on this region...let us try what we can propose...keeping all that is green and blue and brown as such...expecting public support...
  • The environment where the Mangalvanam is located is turning out to be a concrete jungle and it is vitally important to preserve the woodland and marshland area in and around there to encourage and protect the wildlife that use the area as habitat. It is in the interest of all residents of Marine Drive and the High Court to safeguard the diverse ecosystem for future generations to enjoy. I wish the GCDA and the Corporation of Cochin would consider the site as a conservation area and try to enhance its appeal by encouraging the local people, educational institutions in Kochi and residents along the Marine Drive to embark on a joint venture to manage the area in order to ensure that it is protected and looked after well so that the flora and fauna flourish there. I would also suggest that the area is maintained so as to allow the people easy access and a safe place to relax and enjoy. It would be a good idea to plant indigenous and native trees to attract the local schools as a field study centre to learn ecology and its impact on the environment and as a means of pollution control. In doing so, if the trees and the marsh land attract birds and turns out to be a bird sanctuary, it would be a paradise for bird watchers and naturalists alike not to mention the eco-diversity it generates and a model to other inner-cities. It needs good leadership with vision , determination and self motivation to turn the vision into a reality. Kochi is developing at an alarming pace and atmospheric pollution is a serious issue. Progress should not be at the expense of our open green areas and it should be safe-guarded at all costs.
  • Cochin corporation, GCDA , GIDA can not be entrusted with the development of Mangalavanam area . Kochi Metro Rail Ltd can do magic in implementation of a botanical garden there . Again , maximum land must be procured to get the dream a reality.expect a high level intervention in this regard .
  • it is good.i like it very much.
