St. Joseph's Boys school is more than 210 years old. Run by Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Helped many youngsters to be in very high post. Thanks to Devasika Mani, Denzil poppen, Ignatius(Goonappen) and many more teachers- D.F.McArthur.
Current Principal - Fr. K.T. Devassia, S.J.; HeadMaster - Fr. M.J. Augustine, S.J.

The ground you see here is the play ground of this great school. This was the venue of many famous training sessions including cricket practice. In earlier years, cricket was practiced and played in this ground along with football. Cricket balls frequently got hit into the court house that is behind the grounds and into the church to the left resulting in many broken window panes. Later, cricket was not allowed.

Numerous academic and sports achievements are attributed to this school. Several current and previous district collectors, politicians, doctors, lawyers, engineers and scientists studied in this school.

Antony master the physical education teacher from this school was very active and selected very talented athletes for school competitions and won many laurels including the national football inter school championships on more than one occasion.

English and social science teacher, Mr. Denzil Poppen or Poppen master was also legendary. He coached students from this school to many inter school debate, quiz and elocution competitions.

Father Andrapere was a well known headmaster who spend many years at this school. Many academic laurels including state SSLC rank holders came from this school.

Indeed St. Joseph's is one of the finest schools of Kozhikode.

Close to it is St. Joseph's Anglo Indian HS School, St. Antony's Boys' AUP School and St. Angela's Girls' AUPS.

  • I am glad to say that I was a student of St.Joseph's Boys High school and I had studied right from junior level classes upto std. 8. I left this school in the year 1969 due to transfer of my parents from Kerala to Gujarat. Today, also I do visit my school to refresh my memories in my heart as and when I happen to visit South India. I am very much thankful to this school for whatever I am today. This school has educated me so well, that even today, I remember my school as and when I get a chance to appreciate the education system to my friends, relatives and others. Nothing more to say, but lastly I would like to add that all the students who are presently studying at St.Joseph's Boy's High School should make a strong mind to study and build up their future / career from this everlasting platform - ie. my school. • I studied in this school during 1967 and 1968. The Headmaster, Father Makil, had a pet python, and allowed us to touch it. Fr Abraham, was the English teacher and also played basketball with us I was always getting into trouble and frequently sent out of class for one reason or the other. But it was a great school .We had fun studiny and a great time chasing the girls from the girls school much to the anger of the nuns there. I would like to get in touch with students of my time.Clifford D'souza, Harshad Bhatt,John D'Couta,Adam D'silva-- if anyone of you are out there please get in touch-- dfernandeznz@yahoo.com.au---Dennis Fernandez

  • I studied in this school in 1969-1970. I never really enjoyed the studies but it holds a lot of very good/bad memories of life in India. I subsequently left for London where I grew up. I have revisited the school several times. I once wrote to the head master wanting to start a scholarship for students from unfortunate backgrounds. I received a reply saying they'd get in touch, but nothing happened.
