Mananchira Square is one of the splendid places that is found in India in the region of Calicut. Mananchira Square is actually the palace tank of King Vikrama, who was one of the great rulers in the region. Mananchira Square has a splendid and a traditional architectural design that is reminiscent of the splendor of the old times in India. Mananchira Square has green grass that is carpeted across the area and you have many old Kerala type buildings in the place. Mananchira Square has an open ground with a musical fountain that attracts many visitors every day.

Mananchira has been converted into an Arcadia with beautiful plants and trees, shrubs, sculptures, an open air theatre, an artificial hill as well as a music mountain. Mananchira is actually a palace tank of the King Vikrama who was known as one of the greatest rulers of the malabar region.
You can also find in Mananchira square, the oldest bulilding of the calicut city, the Commonwealth trust office, as well as Town hall and Public Library.
Mananchira Square has been named after the pond mananchira which has an area of one square kilometer in the heart of the city. Manachira Square includes Manachira pond, manachira maidan and the Old Krishnamenon Port which has the musical fountain in it.
This is believed to have been named after the erstwhile ruler of the Zamorins, Mana Devan, Mana devan's chira or the pond later got transformed to mananchira. The main courtyard of the palace is said to have existed here. The ancient side walls were removed to ease the flow of traffic in the busy intersection.
The Maidan has got a green carpet of lawns and the whole complex has been surrounded by a leterite wall . There are about 250 lamp posts which are designed in the colonil style and each of the post have two lamps.
