Built in January 1941 by The American National Red Cross as the office and residence of the Red Cross Field Director at Camp Barkley located southwest of Abilene. After WW-II and the deactivation of Camp Barkley, ARC National Headquarters transferred the building to the ownership of the local ARC Chapter. The building was moved from the Camp Barkley site into the city of Abilene.
