park, greenhouse
The City of Saskatoon’s first greenhouse was built in 1910 at Ave H and 11th St., where the Water Treatment Plant is located today. It expanded in 1926 and produced close to 150,000 annual flowers for civic beautification. In 1960 a larger and more 'modern' structure was opened at Avenue P and 33rd Street. This greenhouse, manufactured by Lord & Burnham Greenhouse Company of London, England, is still used today and produces flowers and plants for parks, cemeteries, and boulevards within Saskatoon. The greenhouse also provides a year round floral and tropical display at the Saskatoon Civic Conservatory.
