The Drama Theatre "Stoyan Bachvarov" is a cultural simbol of Varna. It is created in 1921. The building is finished in 1932 and opened on 5 June. Later to the main scene another one is added in separate building called "Filiala".
Varna theatre has its own theatrical company of 20 actors and two scenes: A big one with 560 places and scene filial with 450 places. The theatre gives 200 performances yearly. Every season it presents 14 pieces 6 of which - new and each month it has 3,500 visitors.

In the same building the Varna Opera is situated. It is created in 1947. From 1999 it is merged with Varna philharmonic orchestra and forms Opera and Philharmonic society - Varna.
