 memorial, monument, military

A memorial to the Second Division of the United States Army. This memorial was originally built to honor the members of the Second Division who lost their lives during the First World War. The center section symbolizes the entrance to Paris; the fiery golden sword symbolically blocks the Germans from occupying the city.

The wings on either side of the gateway were added to honor those members of the Second Division who died in World War II (west side) and the Korean Conflict (east side).
