The Poplar Point pumping station is located adjacent to the South Capitol Street-Suitland Parkway-I-295 interchange. This facility was designed to have a firm capacity of 45 million gallons per day and pumps combined wastewater from the Anacostia Main Interceptor to the outfall sewers that lead to the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant. By its outside appearance, it is painfully obvious that DC WASA wishes to replace this facility rather than renovate it.
