DC Water's Main and O Street pumping stations are nestled between The Yards, the Nationals ballpark across First Street, and Diamond Teague Park on the Anacostia River. The main point of interest is the 1907 Beaux Arts brick pumping station, which is still in use and which in early 2012 was designated one of the city's historic landmarks. Forest City Washington (developers of The Yards) has been negotiating since 2006 for the right to develop approximately 4 acres of the DC Water site with 400 residential units and retail, taking advantage of the DC Water site's prime location.
