The fourth Oil Refinery set up in Assam after Digboi, Guwahati (Noonmati) and Bongaigaon.
Incorporated in 1993, it was set up by the Govt. of India in fulfilling the conditions of the Assam Accord signed in 1985 and so the refinery is popularly known as "Assam Accord Refinery". Commercial production started in 2000.
