This area of isolated Rockbridge county farmland between Raphine, Goshen, and Craigsville is noted among film set location experts as having rolling hills which can look like rural "Anyplace, USA" be it the South, Upstate New York, or Penna. The land which includes portions of the Willard Scott property, the Tom BeeBee farm, and others, is conveniently near highway transportation and hotels for crew, but also is isolated enough that neither curious infiltrators, traffic noise, or light pollution intrude much upon filming ---the latter attributes are seldom found.

Rumors connect the area with filming of Spielberg's "Lincoln".

In 2004, portions of Spielberg's epic "War of the Worlds" were filmed here.
