This "hill" used to be an island before the Acadian's dyked the land in the 1600's. Also known as Ile de la Vallière- by 1692 Michel Le Neuf de la Vallière, the Govenor of Acadia established his base here and the Chignecto Ismuth became a hotly contested area of North American - leading to the Acadian Deportation. It is now currently home to a farm-house that has been converted into a research station for Acadia University and Duck's Unlimited.
