  • Shri Panchalingeshwara Devasthana(Temple) of Vittal is supposed to 1200 years old. The Panchalingas (5 Linga's) are supposed to have been established by the Pancha Pandavas of Mahabharatha. At over a Milliniem old, it is now recognised to be one of the oldest Temples in India, if not the whole world It is now being completely removated at an apporx. cost of Rs. 6 Crores. Partially funded by the government, Donations are the main source of funds (they have only collected Rs. 2 crores so far, as of July 2007, so donations are welcome). It is truly a wonderful and ancient heritage not only for Vittal by for the country.
