General Motors factory built in the Polish neighborhood of Detroit by virtue of a landmark court decision, later overturned in 2004.

  • The Poletown Plant is a fine example of the power of eminent domain gone wrong. Not only did GM asked and received the land for little or no cost, they asked for a tax abatement so that they wouldn't have to pay any property taxes as well.
  • Actual name is Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center. Currently builds the Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne.
  • Supposed to be the site for the construction of the Chevy Volt.
