Eastmark is the name of the master planned development that the GM Proving Grounds once occupied. Site clean up has been underway since 2008 and the first new homes open on June 1, 2013. Also currently in development is a new solar panel manufacturing facility for First Solar.

Former GMDPG - hot weather test site: 1953 - 2008.
It closed after NAFTA; GM moved this hot weather test site to the Yuma Proving Ground.

  • Yes, its definietly open. GM chose not to go to Mexico. I have seen Cadillacs, Hummers, and suburbans being tested there.

  • I work for GM and I received the data recorded at DPG (Desert Proving Ground) in Queen Creek last week. Its very much open!!
  • Working around NASCAR's test ban, fourteen teams will wrap up three days of testing their Chevy Impala's at the General Motors Proving Grounds today in Mesa, Arizona. So I am saying that it is still open!
  • Permanently close as of July 12th, 2009. GM has moved their operations to their new Desert Proving Grounds in Yuma Arizona which is located within the U.S. Army's Yuma Proving Grounds.
