The Velim test center (Czech: Zkušební centrum Velim) is a railway train testing facility at Cerhenice, close to the city of Poděbrady in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has become the main testing location for most new types of rolling-stock designed for use across Europe.
The most notable feature is the Velim railway test circuit (Železniční zkušební okruh u Velimi/Cerhenice) consisting of two large standard gauge railway circuits designed for continuous running of new rail vehicles. The circular and oval circuits were finished in 1963 and measure 4- and 13-kilometres in length.
The test center consists of two independent circuits:
- small circuit with length 3.951 km and maximal allowed speed up to 90 km/h.
- large circuit with length 13.276 km and maximal allowed speed up to 230 km/h for tilting trains and up to 210 km/h for the others.
