Port of Skagway

USA / Alaska / Skagway /

The Port of Skagway is the northernmost, ice-free, deep water port in North America.
Skagway is unique in the fact that it is one of the few ports in the state which is primarily owned and operated by a private company. That private company is the "Pacific and Arctic Railway and Navigation Company" dba White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad. White Pass presently owns and operates three deepwater docks capable of handling large vessel traffic: the Railroad Dock, the Broadway Dock, and the Ore Dock.

The Port is currently the number three cruise port in the State of Alaska. It also is the site of an Alaska Marine Highway ferry terminal, barge service, a small boat harbour, and an export terminal for shipping mineral concentrates from mines in Yukon and northern British Columbia.
