Rosenberg Castle in a pure translation into English.
This Rosenberg castle founded in late 14th century by Heindrich von Rosenberg is significant monument of the Middle Ages.
The most outstanding part of the castle is a round tower Hlaska, with rare vault in basement room. Some remains of fortifications were also preserved.
The castle was firstly rebuilt around the year 1390, and in 1394 was Czech King Wenceslas IV imprisoned here. In 1420 was the castle burnt down by the Hussites. It was later repaired and refortified, but at end of the 15th century was the castle abandoned. In the 17th century, there was gradually a Rosenberg School from 1613, later granaries and in early of 18th century was the castle palace adapted into a brewery and barns.
In 2010, a modern town library was opened in renovated north wing of this Gothic castle.
