The gazebo at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square is topped with a minaret-capped dome of steel which resembles the dome from the 1892 Hillsborough County Courthouse (demolished). The dome's image is also featured on the Hillsborough County Seal. The dome closely resembles those of the former Tampa Bay Hotel, known today as the University of Tampa. Both the hotel and the 1892 County Courthouse were designed by the same architect, J. A. Wood.
