Built in 1939 of reinforeced concrete to serve as both the Air Administration Building
for Ushi Airfield and the Headquarters Japanese Navy's 1st Air Fleet, this building served the Japanese Empire until the fall of Tinian in July 1944.
Heavily damaged by American air and sea bombardment preceding their invasion, the building was left largely unused by American forces and remains in ruins today.
