The building of the "Fort de Rosny" took place from 1840 until 1846. The fortress is made of four quarters included in an rectangular area of roughly 400m by 340 with the main axis orientated from west to east.
The "Fort" is a major building which could actually be described as a village in itself. Its core is made of official buildings with constabulary (Gendarmerie Nationale) offices and the Centre National d'Information Routiere (lessites.service-public.fr/cgi-bin/annusite/annusite.fc... made famous in France by the logo "Bison Fute".
This core is well protected and separated from the rest of the "Fort" by walls and fences from the habitation part where the military and their family live.
