Le Mans (pronounced /lə mɑ̃/ in French) is a city in France, located on the Sarthe River. Traditionally the capital of the province of Maine, it is now the préfecture (capital) of the Sarthe département. Its inhabitants are called Manceaux and Mancelles. Le Mans is the head instead of the Sarthe. It is the original city of motorsport or the plantagenêt dynasty, and the 3th city of the Pays de la Loire by his national influence. Le Mans, called "the red town" or "Royal City", has an important architectural heritage with the old Mans or the Cathedral of Saint Julien. To the south, the circuits of the 24 hours of Le Mans are attached to the city.
