  • Bamfords Ltd Uttoxeter. A world renowned company! Ceased trading in 1980 as a result of Mrs Thatchers government refusal to approve a loan to tide the company over during a particular difficult time in the agricultural implement manufacturing season. The company was founded in 1871 and 100 years later was awarded "The Queens Award For Industry". During both world wars the company was involved with producing munitions etc. Despite the company's contribution to helping to win the wars the Tories in power decided that the company should close as they did to so many other manufacturers.
