This 30 metre (100 ft) high statue is located in front of and associated with the Juche tower. It consists of three figures — one with a hammer, one with a sickle and one with a writing brush (an worker, a peasant woman and a "working intellectual", inspired by the Moscow-located monument of the Worker and the Kolkhoz Woman; the combination of symbols recalls the flag of the Workers' Party of Korea).
