  'Tengakhat' a historical place in Dibrugarh district about 38 kilometers from District headquarters. Now an small oil and Tea town connected with Duliajan. Tengakhat, the word means an Estate mean for soury fruits of the Tai-Ahom king Chaolung Siukapha A.D. 1228-59. There are several Tengakhat and Tengabari (old name of Rangpur also Tengabari) in Upper Assam. Tengakhat region was a part of old Dimalang, Kachari Kingdom of Bicharpatipha, Saumarapitha, Halali, Kunda, Kundi, Vaisalilung etc. The dwellers are mostly Kacharis and the Tai-Ahom, Morans, Mattaks etc.

  Its a small town of district Dibrugarh situated at the east side of the dist. and its about 30km. from Dibrugarh. There are many tea factories, a P.H.C., a higher secondary school (Tengakhat H.S. School), a Arts college, and many primary and M.E. Schools at Tengakhat.. There are also a police station, a development block, and many other govt. Offices. Most of the people of Tengakhat depends on agriculture.. In the district of Dibrugarh, Tengakhat takes an important part in Tea Production.. It helps the people who lived in Tengakhat, in their economic life. Its also a source of natural OIL, so its also be said as a small town of Oil and Tea.. Tengakhat region was a part of old Dimalang, Kachari Kingdom of Bicharpatipha, Saumarapitha, Halali, Kunda, Kundi, Vaisalilung etc. The dwellers are mostly the Tai-Ahom, and Kacharies, Morans, Mattaks etc. [N.B.-If u wanna know more than contact me]
