  • 'Tengakhat' a historical place in Dibrugarh district about 38 kilometers from District headquarters. Now an small oil and Tea town connected with Duliajan. Tengakhat, the word means an Estate mean for soury fruits of the Tai-Ahom king Chaolung Siukapha A.D. 1228-59. There are several Tengakhat and Tengabari (old name of Rangpur also Tengabari) in Upper Assam. Tengakhat region was a part of old Dimalang, Kachari Kingdom of Bicharpatipha, Saumarapitha, Halali, Kunda, Kundi, Vaisalilung etc. The dwellers are mostly Kacharis and the Tai-Ahom, Morans, Mattaks etc.
