A small peninsula of land jutting out into Tampa Bay just south of the Gandy Bridge. The name may also be used to refer to the port and maritime facilities which occupy the peninsula. Rattlesnake Point can accomodate ship and barge traffic with a draft of up to 16 feet.

The name originates from the former township of Rattlesnake, Florida, which existed in the adjacent area between 1937 and 1954. Rattlesnake was founded by rattlesnake farmer George End who built a farm and cannery on the south side of Gandy Blvd. Eventually the town had its own Post Office and police department. By the 1950's Rattlesnake was annexed by the City of Tampa, and the "Rattlesnake, Florida" Post Office was renamed "Interbay".
