Stinky Beach

This bay-side beach is named for its repulsive odor. It smells like poop. The bridge nearby is good for throwing rocks off of though. (Don't do this. It is a waste of rocks, and we only have a few left!)

  • First of all, it's Stinky Beach, not stink beach. Years ago, the sewer treatment plant was nearby, as well as the Tallow Works. A few years later the Pulp Mills, and onshore winds, added to the mix. On some summer days we would beg to play inside.-) The sewer plant is still there, though greatly improved. The tallow works no longer cooks their strange soup, and the pulp mills are either gone, or chlorine free. Apart from the smell of the Pacific Ocean washing into the bay, it is now stinky free. Cross the bridge, hang a right, hit the bay, hang another right. Heck of a nice walk, and NOBODY'S THERE! Great spot, just don't try it when a winter storm is brewing, you'll be way up in the soft stuff.-) It's not a good surf spot at all. There are tons of good spots close by, but not in the bay.
