Not to be confused with the Nearby Broadgate station. This station was opened in 1840 by the Eastern Counties railway, as Shoreditch. However, a fire in 1964 would set in motion the eventual decline. It was demolished in 2004. A new station on the East London line extension will create Shoreditch High street, which will replace the Existing Shoreditch station, as it is on the wrong the alignment.
