  • My brother, Ray, said that he used to swim in Dinosaurs Lake in 1968 when our Uncle John lived on Standish Hansell's property. He said it was around a 50 acres property. The lake was about one acre and there were two concrete, 10 foot dinosaurs in the middle of the lake. One statue was a TRek. My brother and his buddies used to swim in it and party. It was a party spot for the young kids.
  • I believe there was also a snake. There may have three dinosaurs.
  • That is so amazing. I remember going with some friends and swimming over to the island where the cement dinosaurs were. Couldn't remember exactly where it was and no one I have ever spoken to remembered this or knew of it. The internet is truly amazing. I am glad to know there were other people that remembered this. • I used to swim in this lake all the time when I was a kid. there was at least 2 dinosaurs and a snake wrapped around a tree. First time I went there it was magical. There was a wooden dock you could fish or dive off of at the wooded end if the lake. Just to get there we had to sneak through Liberty Bell race track. Well that was the shortest way and the most exciting for a 7 year old kid who ditch his bike at the end of the woods. A short walk through the woods and across a creek and you were there. There was always a guy in a golf cart who would chase us away be we just jumped in the water and yell come in and get us, lol. He left us alone after a few minutes and just drove away. That place brings back so many great memories. I even saw a short book about the building of the lake, I always thought it was a lake at the end of a golf course.
  • Arline ,hi I used to go there all the time as a kid till we moved away in 1970. But when I tell people stories about that place they think I'm crazy, lol. till I found a book about the building of the lake. To most people its an urban legend , but that place used to be there.
  • FYI there is a Facebook page with pics Barn Dinosaur-Lake I live nearby and hike back there often. I was able to cross over onto the "island" and the footings are still there It was 2 upright Dinosaurs and a snake wrapped around a tree. When I first saw the "lake" the snake was gone and most of the 2 dinosaurs had been vandalized or fell apart but you could tell they what they were.
