shopping mall, artwork, airport terminal
The Pittsburgh AirMall - closed to non-ticketed passengers since the new TSA regulations took effect in 2001.The airside terminal consists of 4 concourses (A, B, C, D) that hold the departure gates. Once a destination to shoppers of west Pittsburgh area, the combined forces of new post-9/11 regulations and the opening of The Mall at Robinson have led to decreased shoppers at AirMall. Nevertheless, the stores are still priced at uninflated prices and is still popular for passengers.
The main hall features a large Alexander Calder mobile sculpture entitled "Pittsburgh" (1958) which was originally produced for the Carnegie International.
