There used to be a smaller Dominick's store behind here, but in 2010, it was torn down for a fancy new urban store that incorporated the land of the sleazy Chicago Motel Lodge, which featured a new parking deck. Turns out it was Dominick's last gasp in the area, and the owners of Dominick's, Safeway, would kill the chain in 2013. It was quickly picked up by Mariano's, a rival grocery store chain founded by ex-Dominick's execs.
