Burial place of Henry, his wife, his sons and daughters and grandchildren. Note the small grave markings of the children. Henry had himself cremated, the first recorded cremation in South Carolina, in reaction the the harrowing experience of the supposed death of one of his daughters, who suddenly woke up while laid out on the funeral bier, about to be buried! A special place of honor is given to the woods surrounding the cemetery.
There is little doubt, because of the reverence afforded it by neighbors when the brothers first arrived here, that the area round the wall is the burial place of slaves.
