railway, place with historical importance, Amtrak, bridge, railway bridge

This is the second structure at this site (the original was wood and got blown down). This well-known railroad landmark is still used by about 50 BNSF freight trains daily as well as Amtrak's 'Empire Builer' route. The bridge is 1792' in length and 117' at its highest point.

It is still active, used multiple times daily by the BNSF train, and by the Amtrak Empire Builder.

YEARs ago my dad and I used to go out to watch and photograph trains. Great place to photograph was on the NW side due to the bend in the railroad. you could literally watch them come at you. As I recall their was a hill right there too which made for even better photos. This was in the late 1980's. Not sure if you can get up there now. Even road over it on the Amtrak Empire Builder from Minot to Portland. FUN Times.
