There is a village near the town of Gabrovo, which is called Morovetsite. It was founded around 1750 and has preserved the spirit, faith and traditions of the Bulgarians during the Turkish slavery. In order to survive in the harsh nature of the mountains and in the conditions of slavery, the inhabitants of this village were extremely cohesive and united. After the Liberation, most of the young people scattered around Bulgaria and gradually the village was deserted. It has been a long time since Hristo Kolev Nenov, the last inhabitant of Morovetsite, died in 1972. Soon no one will remember the life that boiled in this fabulous place. None of the several thousand descendants of the first settler known as the Morvyaka.
