The Tomb in the “Shushmanets” Mound

Bulgaria / Stara Zagora / Sipka /
tomb(s), museum, interesting place, Thracian heritage

Archaeologically Studied Thracian Мound.
The Temple in the “Shushmanets” Mound was built in the IV century B.C., and was later used as a tomb. It has no analogue in the Balkan Peninsula, with its columns both in the antechamber and in the burial chamber. Here, the notion of the Universe structure is elaborated in detail. In the middle of the antechamber rises an impressive column ending with a large disk – the symbol of the Sun.
