The Porchester Hall was opened in 1929 alongside the Turkish Baths and Library on Porchester Road. It provided the Borough of Paddington with a dignified Public Hall intended primarily for use by the residents in the area. The Hall was available for concerts, banquets, dances, receptions and meetings.
Several notable pop music acts have performed there, including Ed Sheeran, The Feeling, Arcade Fire, Cat Stevens, Snow Patrol, Hawkwind, Above & Beyond, Texas, The Who, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison, Kylie Minogue, Amy Winehouse and Beverley Knight. The "Mr. Creosote" sketch from Monty Python's The Meaning of Life was filmed here in summer 1982. Also Jeff Lynne's ELO performed here in Nov 2015.
