Low bridge - Lower Downs Road (London)

United Kingdom / England / Swanley-Hextable / London

This is a frighteningly low bridge - originally a "cattle arch" - under the railway, the only way across between Raynes Park and Wimbledon. To make it worse, in the northern direction the roof drops by a foot halfway through, & countless tall vehicles have been written off over the years. In the 60's it was a diversion route while the Skew Arch at Raynes Park Station was being repaired, and a string of brass bells were suspended across the road either side at the height limit.

Nowadays they have automatic warning signs and flashing lights, but still they do it.
