Designed in the Streamline Moderne style by consulting architect Alan Balch Mills for the Office of the Supervising Architect, the building was originally known as "Station B". Its interior contains features a relief designed in 1938 by Wheeler Williams. The station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
