An edwardian walled kitchen garden, currently a garden centre & nursery. Originally built as part of the Weardale Manor estate. It was responsible for providing fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables to Lord and Lady Weardale throughout the summer months. A donkey cart was used to transport supplies from the nursery to the manor house on the high upon the hill. The walled garden and associated gardener cottages are the only remaining standing buildings of the Weardale Estate, the manor house having been demolished in 1939.

In 1946 the then leader of the opposition, Winston Churchill added the walled garden to his estate. It is now in private ownership and run as a garden centre.
