Gables Republic Tower (Republic Center Tower I) is a 36-story skyscraper located at 300 North Ervay Street in the City Center District of downtown Dallas, Texas (USA), adjacent to Thanks-giving Square. The height of the building's roof is 452 feet (138 m), but when its 150-foot (46 m) spire is included, the building reaches a height of 602 feet (183 m). It was the second home of Republic National Bank. At the time of its construction in the 1950's it was heralded as one of the most architectural advanced buildings in the region and its ultra-modern interior and striking metal exterior were featured on many chrome post-cards of the era. Like the Pegasus on the Magnolia building, its large rooftop fluorescent temperature gage was for many years a dominant and instantly recognizable part of the Dallas skyline. The building was converted into 229 residential units from 2005-2007.
